Donald Jason Smith, of Hingham, Mass., formerly of Scituate, Mass., passed away at home Sunday, July 8, 2012, at age 90.

Donald was the loving husband of Muriel (Turner). Born and raised in Newton, Mass., Donald lived in Scituate for more than 50 years before moving to Hingham five years ago, spending the winter seasons at his home in Venice, Fla., for 26 years.

He was a World War II Navy veteran. Donald worked for Lumber Mutual Insurance in Framingham, Mass., for 30 years, retiring as vice president. He was a 22-year-member of the Scituate Housing Authority, a member of the Satuit Masonic Lodge AF & AM, and enjoyed golfing and boating.

Donald was the father of Sandra Rollings Rainey of Sarasota, Fla., and the late Jay Smith; stepfather of Karl Johnson of Scituate; grandfather of Stephen and Curtis Johnson; and great-grandfather of three.
