George D. Shepard, 79, of Venice, Fla., and Mohnton, passed away Monday, Sept. 3, 2012, at 10:35 a.m. in St. Joseph Medical Center. He was the husband of Cynthia S. (Husk) Shepard.

Born in Berlin, N.H., he was the son of the late Ralph and Violet (Baldwin) Shepard. He was a fireman in Morris Township, N.J., for 20 years retiring in 1992, and served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Sally (Shepard) Cooke of Basking Ridge, N.J., and his son, John Charles Shepard of Lake Hopatcong, N.J. He is also survived by his stepdaughter, Susan Marie Sanderson of Venice, Fla., and John Wallace Sanderson of Brooklyn, N.Y. Mr. Shepard was preceded in death by two sons, Scott Alan and Donald Shepard. Also surviving are his grandchildren, David George Cooke, Faith Jordan Cooke and John Charles Shepard III. In addition, he is survived by his brothers, John C. Shepard of Louisville, Ky., Richard Shepard of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Ralph Shepard of Riverview, Fla., along with his sister Florence Isom Cole of Port Charlotte, Fla.
