Wilbur A. Wanek Jr., 74, of Venice, formerly of East Northport, N.Y., died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012. He was born July 6, 1938.

Wilbur was retired from the U.S. Navy and American Airlines, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 52 years, Joan; son, Thomas Wanek; daughters, Jacqueline Carlomagno, Madonna Fusco, Karen Wanek Abruzzo, Joan Harvey and Joanne Walsh; 18 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and cousin Carol of Venice.

Services: Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., with a Celebration of Life Service at 7 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 9, at Farley Funeral Home, Venice Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 10, at Sarasota National Cemetery.
