Martha M. Jarrett
Martha McCabe Jarrett, wife of retired AmeriTrust Chair Jerry Jarrett, passed away Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, at Heather Hill in Chardon, Ohio. She had been ill for a few weeks following kidney failure. She was 80 years old.
She was active in community service in her home in Venice, Fla., serving on the boards of the Venice Symphony and Gulf Coast Community Foundation of Venice and the advisory board of the Venice Salvation Army. She was an active member of the PEO Sisterhood and Kappa Alpha Theta. She was a passionate supporter and honorary alumna of Up With People for more than 40 years. While living in Cleveland, she served on the boards of the Berea Children’s Home, the Cleveland Music School Settlement, the Association for Children with Learning Disabilities and the Western Reserve Historical Society. She was active at the Church of the Saviour in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, and Venice Presbyterian Church in Venice, Fla., and also at Northminster Presbyterian Church, in Sarasota, Fla.
Martha McCabe was born in Kansas City, Mo., Oct. 5, 1931, and graduated from Radcliffe College at Harvard University in 1953.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years; a daughter, Cynthia Carlson (Christopher) of Sarasota, Fla.; and three sons, Chuck (Stephanie) of Pepper Pike, Ohio, John of Garfield Heights, Ohio, and Chris (Jennifer) of Ludington, Mich.; her brother, Walter McCabe, of Bethesda, Md.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services: A memorial service will be held in early November at Venice Presbyterian Church.
