Flora J. Falsani
Flora Jean (Wheeler) Falsani, 84, of Venice, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in Brookline, N.H., April 6, 1928, last of 11 children of the late Silas H. and Margie (Burns) Wheeler. She spent her early life in Brookline and Milford, N.H. Her mother’s ancestors founded Milford, N.H.
After World War II, she met the love of her life, Ceasar R. Falsani, and married him Jan. 30, 1948. Together, they raised their son, Bobby, in Milford. Jeannie was active in the VFW and American Legion auxiliaries, and she and her husband were sponsors and chaperones for many parades and trips of the Milford Spartans drum and bugle corps.
In 1962, Jean and Ceasar moved to Berlin, N.H., to open and manage White Mountain Distributors. Jeannie worked in the office as bookkeeper and office manager, as well as being a terrific mother and fan of her son’s sports teams.
After she and her husband retired in 1986, they settled in Venice, where Jeannie played golf and pursued her other interests: playing bridge and mahjongg, and promoting friendships in their three Capri Isles Boulevard residence complexes.
A loving mother and grandmother, gracious hostess and excellent cook, Jeannie will be long remembered for her hospitality to all. She was especially proud of her three great-grandchildren. She was a member of Venice-Nokomis United Methodist Church.
Besides her parents, Jeannie was preceded in death by her siblings, Daisey, Bessie, Beatrice, Evelyn, Gertrude, Isabel, Herman, Willis, Silas and Jerald, and her nephew, Ronald Wheeler.
Jeannie is survived by her husband of 66 years, Ceasar Robert; her son, Robert, and his wife, Teresa Falsani; her grandchildren, Tara (Michael Olson) Falsani and Kelly (Heather) Falsani; and great-grandchildren, Meri Shannon Harkins, Samuel Ceasar and Lucille Francis Falsani.
In addition, Jeannie will be missed by her sister-in-law, Winnifred (Maxwell) Wheeler of Pepperell, Mass.; her brother-in-law, Mario Falsani, and his wife, Helen; special nieces, Rosemary Wheeler (Erlon) Gilley and Nancy (Tafe) Bowles; nephew, Ricky Wheeler; as well as several other beloved nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Jeannie’s favorite doctor, Dr. William F. Phifer M.D. of Venice; Cheryl Carey R.N. and her wonderful team of Carey Care caregivers, especially Nair, Kathleen, Betty and Karla; and friends, Bonnie, Gussie, Sandy, Anita, Marge and Jeannie’s many other dear friends in Florida and New Hampshire for their love and support of Jeannie, both lately and throughout her lifetime.
Services: A memorial service and celebration of Jeannie’s life will be held in November, around Thanksgiving, her favorite holiday. Arrangements are by Farley Funeral Home, Venice Chapel. To send a condolence, visit www.farleyfuneralhome.com.
Contributions: In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to a favorite charity in Jeannie’s honor.
