Hattie M. Broz
Hattie Marie Zelenka Broz, 95, of Venice, Fla., died Monday, Sept. 17, 2012.
Hattie was born in New York City Sept. 22, 1916, and came to the Venice area in 1993 from Massapequa Park, N.Y. In 1978, Hattie retired after 21 years of teaching public school in Massapequa. Hattie held degrees from New York University and Hofstra University.
Hattie is survived by her two sons, Robert (Kimberly) of Gaylord, Mich., and James of Arroyo Grande, Calif.; her four grandchildren, Jason of Charleston, S.C., Daniel of Santa Barbara, Calif., Kaitlyn and Benjamin; nieces, Janice (George) Mikula and Joanne (Vincent) Saponar of New Jersey and Marilyn Zelenka of Florida; cousins, Libby (Mike) Bobek of New York, Miroslav (Marie) Zelinka and Miloslava (Peter) Jarunkova of the Czech Republic; and great-nieces and -nephews around the country and the Czech Republic.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank P. Broz, and her three brothers, Joseph (Esther), Frank (Blanche) and Emanuel Zelenka.
Services: At Hattie’s request, services will be private. A private burial will take place Saturday, Oct. 6, at St. Michael’s Cemetery in East Elmhurst, N.Y. Farley Funeral Home, Venice, is handling the arrangements. To send a condolence, visit www.farleyfuneralhome.com.
