Patrick Padden
Patrick “Frank” Padden, 81, died suddenly Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, in Venice, Fla., after a happy and successful life.
Pat was born in Scranton, Pa., Feb. 15, 1931, to Mary Dwyer Padden and Patrick F. Padden, and married Marie Haggerty of Scranton in 1954.
After a tour with the U.S. Navy, serving with the Seabees in Trinidad, British West Indies, Pat returned to the states, where he began his professional career. He started as a stock boy for S.S. Kresge Co. in 1956 and after many moves and promotions, retired as executive vice president of Kmart Corporation’s Waldenbooks subsidiary in 1988.
Pat and Marie retired to Venice and enjoyed the company of countless friends at the Jacaranda West Country Club and the Venice Yacht Club.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Eugene, Joe and John (called home Sept. 12, 2012); his sisters, Maye Brandamore and Joan McCormick; and his beloved wife, who passed in January 2007.
Those left to live in a world without him include his children, Maureen Padden Just and her husband, Nick Just, of Land-o-Lakes, Fla., Patrick F. Padden Jr. and his fiancee, Joan Curran, of Danvers, Mass., Frank Padden of Hudson, Mass., and Kathleen Padden of Marlborough, Mass.; four grandchildren, Patrick, Caroline, Timothy and Charlotte Padden, all of the Boston area; his companion of four years, Shirley Davis of Venice; his brothers William of Scranton, Pa. and Jerry of Raleigh, N.C. and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services: A funeral mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Venice, Wednesday. Burial will be in St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, Pa. Farley Funeral Home, Venice, is handling the arrangements.
