Larry Goode
Larry Goode, 75, of Venice, passed away Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, Tenn.
Larry was born in Cheboygan, Mich., Jan. 2, 1937. He married Bonnie Johnson in 1958 and moved to Florida, settling in Bradenton. In 1965, he moved his family to Venice.
Larry began his career as a tile setter and in 1968 became the owner of Venice Tile & Marble Co. He would later go on to be a part of other businesses, such as Midcoast Tile Distributors and Venetian Tile. Larry retired in 2005, at which time he and Bonnie began spending the summer months in Jamestown, Tenn.
He and Bonnie celebrated their 54th anniversary Sept. 27. Larry was a member of the Venice Area 912 Project and South County Republican Club. He was a former stock-car racer and loved NASCAR races, fishing and spending time with his family. He enjoyed motor-home trips across the country as well.
He is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie; their children, Debbie (Chris) Presley, Duane (Becky) Goode and Karen (Tom) McNeilan, all of Venice, Melanie (Johnny) Autry of Jamestown, Tenn., and Dr. Harold (Teresa) Patino of Naperville, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a sister, Diane Groover of Jamestown, Tenn., as well as 14 nieces and nephews. He will be missed by everyone.
Services: A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. Sun., Oct. 21, at Coastal Community Church, North Port.
