William E. Sauers, age 84, passed away Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012.

Born in Montreal, Canada, Bill Sauers lived in Riverton, N.J. from 1958, and also Venice. Over the last few years he was a resident at Rockland Place in Wilmington, Del.

His early school years were in Upper Montclair, N.J., from second grade through high school, class of 1946. He earned a B.S. degree from Franklin & Marshall College (class of ’51) and an MBA from Rutgers University in 1955. He was a retired self-employed real estate appraiser, broker and investor. The first 10 years of his career were with the New Jersey Division of Esso Standard Oil Company.

Mr. Sauers served in the Army during World War II. He enjoyed being with his family, traveling, bike riding, photography and airedale terriers. He was tremendously generous, and he thoroughly enjoyed giving to others.

Surviving are his wife, Frances; a stepson, Jeffrey Wightman of N.Y.; two daughters, Susan Wightman-Hentz (Larry) of Wilmington, Del., and Mary Sauers Depew (Ken) of Moorestown, N.J.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

We, his family, would like to thank all of his friends for their kindness and support during his lifetime. We would also like to thank the caring nurses and aides at Rockland Place, Bayada Nurses and Compassionate Care Nurses for giving him such tender care.

Services: A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, at Calvary Presbyterian Church, 300 4th St., Riverton, N.J. Light refreshments will be served at the church after the service. A private service for the family will follow at the Memorial Garden, where Bill’s ashes will be interred.

Contributions: The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bill be made to the Alzheimer’s Association,
P.O. Box 96011,
