Dorothy Burgess Gagen LaFrance, 91, of Venice, formerly of Framingham, Mass., and Hudson, Mass., passed away peacefully Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, surrounded by her loving family after a long battle with lymphoma.

She was the wife of John LaFrance, and formerly the wife of the late John (Nick) Gagen of Framingham. She grew up in Framingham, Mass., and worked for the Framingham Schools Accounting Department until her retirement in 1978. Her greatest pleasure was her family and her summers at her home in Chatham and her current home in Venice.

Dorothy is also survived by her son Jack Gagen, of Venice; her daughter Paula Merloni, and her husband, Jack, of Southboro, Mass.; her daughter Susan and her husband, Nunzio, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; her son Richard of Millis, Mass.; and her stepdaughter Diane. And she leaves 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She also leaves her sisters, Doris Wynne and Maxine Davis, and brother Earl Burgess, all of Framingham, Mass.; and many nieces and nephews. Her family wishes to thank Tidewell Hospice, in Venice, for its kindness, comfort and support through her last days.

Services: At her family’s request, there will be no services, and she will be laid to rest in the Gulf of Mexico. Farley Funeral Home, Venice Chapel, has been selected to care for arrangements.
