Clifford R. Johnson, age 94, of Venice, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012.

He was born Sept. 18, 1918, in Osprey. Clifford was a master chief engineman with the U.S. Navy, and retired in 1963 after 22 years of service. He was a member of Osprey First Church of God and attended Gulf Coast Chapel First Church of God in Nokomis. Clifford was also a member of American Legion Post 159 and V.F.W. Post 8118. He was the patriarch of the Webb family that founded Spanish Point and Osprey. Clifford is survived by his two children, Clifford W. Johnson of Venice and Linda Stevenson of Roanoke, Va.; a sister, Marguerite Bartlett of Tampa; and a brother, Alva Johnson of Osprey. He also is survived by two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services: Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, at Farley Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, at First Church of God, South Venice, with burial to follow at Osprey Cemetery.
