Anne Carruthers Cochrane Mitman, of Osprey, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2013.

Anne was born in Airdrie, Scotland, Jan. 20, 1926, and came to the United States in 1928 as a child at 2 years old with her parents, Helen and William, through Ellis Island, N.Y.

She married Stewart Mitman in 1953, and they raised three children, Suzanne, Nanette and Lucy, in Huntington, N.Y. Anne retired from the Huntington Public Library. They retired to Florida in 1992 and settled in Homosassa, Fla., where she was active in the Red Hat Society and local craft clubs.

She is survived by her husband, Stewart Phipard Mitman, of Osprey, Fla; her children, Suzanne Fuller of Venice, Nanette Arbonies of Hillsborough, N.J., and Lucy Mitman Beaumier of Osprey; and grandchildren, Samantha Fuller, Mark Arbonies, Kimberly Arbonies, Genevieve Beaumier and Gretchen Beaumier. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Helen Cochrane.

Services: A graveside service will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery.
