Diane M. Rittenhouse, 58 of Venice, passed away peacefully Friday, Jan. 11, 2013.
A retired cashier for Publix Super Markets for the past 16 years, she originally was born in Seoul, South Korea. She came to the U.S. at age 11 as the adopted child of Kenneth and Mary Woodcox of Nappanee, Ind.
She later married Clarence W. Rittenhouse on June 29, 1974. After celebrating 38 years of marriage and the birth of her children and her single surviving grandchild, Breanna M. Dunlop, age 2, she immersed herself in the role of a loving grandmother. She enjoyed spending every Tuesday with her granddaughter at Rhyme & Sign classes at the Venice Public Library. In addition to meeting and talking to others, she enjoyed playing piano, painting, boating with her family and a love of dolphins, which she also collected.
She is survived by her husband, Clarence W.; and two of her three children, Tina M. and Michael L. Rittenhouse. A third child, Anthony Wayne, passed away unexpectedly in 1978 at the age of 15 months.
Services: A public service is planned for 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26 (her birthday) at Lift Church, Venice. Arrangements were made in Port Charlotte.
