The Indians celebrate following an ace by No. 22 Taylor Jais. Jais had 15 digs in Venice's win over Charlotte Thursday night.
The Venice High volleyball team improved to 6-1 by winning its district opener against Charlotte 25-12, 25-18, 25-5 Thursday at the Teepee.
The Indians played their first home game in two weeks after a grueling road trip that included matches at Martin County, St. Thomas Aquinas and Fort Myers. After suffering its first loss of the season Tuesday at Fort Myers, Venice came out with the focus of a team that was still upset about losing its undefeated record.
