Girls golf advances to state tournament

For the first time since 2007, the Venice High girls golf team has advanced to the 16-team state tournament.

Venice finished second at Monday’s regional tournament at Vineyards Country Club in Naples. The Indians shot a 328, which tied them for first with host Gulf Coast, but the Indians lost the ensuing one-hole playoff to determine the regional champion.
