The Venice High swimming teams competed in the 3A District 6 tournament at Charlotte High School over the weekend. The top eight finishers in each event qualified for the regional tournament, which will be held Friday at the Long Center in Clearwater.

For the girls, Melanie Going qualified in the 200- and 500-yard freestyle. Faryn Duff qualified in the 100-yard butterfly and backstroke, Julia Dieffenwierth eked in by finishing eighth in both the 100-yard freestyle and breaststroke and Carla Motta advanced to regionals with her seventh-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle. Pepper Smith placed eighth in the
100-yard backstroke and will join Duff in the event at regionals.
